Why Amazon EC2 High Memory U7i Instances?
Amazon EC2 U7i instances are powered by 1.9 GHz (Turbo Boost to 2.90 GHz) 4th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors (Sapphire Rapids) and support up to 1920 vCPUs. U7i instances offer up to 45% better price performance over existing U-1 instances. U7inh instances use Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Compute Scale Up Server 3200, and are the first 32TB virtualized instance in cloud with SAP certification for standard sizing for both OLTP and OLAP workloads.
These instances are purpose-built to run large in-memory databases, including production deployments of the SAP HANA in-memory database, in the cloud. U7i instances allow you to run large in-memory databases and business applications that rely on these databases in the same, shared Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), reducing the management overhead associated with complex networking and ensuring predictable performance.
These instances offer significant performance gains compared to existing U-1 instances. U7i instances deliver up to 135% more compute performance and up to 115% higher memory performance over existing U-1 instances.
U7i instances offer up to 160Gbps of Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) bandwidth for storage volumes. This includes support for io2 Block Express to support IO-intensive use cases such as data hydration, backup/restore, facilitating up to 2.5x faster restart times compared to existing U-1 instances. U7i instances deliver up to 200Gbps of network bandwidth and support ENA Express.
U7i instances (6, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32TiB (U7inh) sizes) are certified by SAP for running Business Suite on HANA, the next-generation Business Suite S/4HANA, Data Mart Solutions on HANA, Business Warehouse on HANA, and SAP BW/4HANA in production environments.

SAP
Customers rely on AWS infrastructure to support mission critical SAP workloads. At SAP, we use Amazon EC2 instances to power our offerings such as RISE with SAP. With the recent announcement of the Amazon EC2 U7inh instances that are SAP certified, we look forward to helping customers take advantage of the 32TiB of memory and 1920 vCPUs. U7inh instances deliver the highest compute performance and largest memory sizes at AWS making them perfect for SAP customers who want to migrate to AWS. By migrating their workloads to U7inh instances, SAP customers will be able to take advantage of the security, reliability, and perf from AWS and SAP.
