Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Usage instructions
- Launch the product via 1-click.
- Find the instance in the AWS console and copy the instance's public IP from the details there.
- Access the application via web browser with the public ip of your instance http://public_ip (NOTE: Has to be HTTP, not HTTPS; for setting up SSL please see https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/using_your_own_ssl_certificate )
- Login using the username 'prtgadmin' and for the password use the the instance_id of the instance with a capital I at the beginning as the password. e.g. I-1234 instead of i-1234
- To receive notifications from PRTG, please change the email for the prtgadmin account by going to Setup - Account Settings - My Account (Optional)
- There you can also change the password for your PRTG installation if you'd like. (Optional)
- For all other directions about using your instance, please refer to our user manual https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg . There are also lots of videos on https://www.paessler.com/learn/videos explaining several aspects of PRTG.

Licensing is based on sensors not appliance, some time one server or network appliance take many sensor licences which is not good.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As mentioned, I am proactively getting the updates of any failure or down time using this application.

It is one of the best programs for monitoring networks. It is characterized by many features, such as reports, a dashboard, simple sensors, program integration, and a reasonable price.

Very flexible, easy to use and the price is very adequate.

Compared to other applications, it doesn't have much built in libraries.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to install, configure, with a welcome ease in generating graphically successful dashboards, the PRTG solution can be deployed and integrated in less than half a day, even without being an IT expert. It installs on a Windows operating system.
Everything is designed so that in a few clicks you have your solution ready to use, and it is therefore perfectly suited to the world of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that do not necessarily have an IT team permanently available or wish for simplified deployments.

What do you dislike about the product?
Beyond a certain number of preconfigured sensors for software, manufacturers, or systems, it quickly becomes a hassle to create custom sensors that are adapted. The whole setup quickly encounters limitations if you are someone who is technically demanding or has particular appliances or systems (custom scripts are a nightmare, and it's quicker to customize the SNMP of the system in question).
Regarding integration, the API or external aspect is clearly behind the times, and the solution is therefore more designed to operate standalone rather than in a fully integrated environment.
As for performance, between the heavy sensors and the limitations of the file/configuration system, you will quickly need a high-performance setup or constant optimization to run more than 10,000 sensors.

PRTG is easy to deploy, update, and the large number of pre-configured sensors allow for the rapid deployment of dozens of probes and associated monitoring, thus providing easy-to-implement and maintain supervision.
