"The Application Load balancer is created with security groups where a user can customize or add more rules to the security group. For the HTTP listener, the template is configured to create an action to forward all requests to the HTTPS listener by default. This is also customizable. Also, a default action is configured to forward traffic to a target group. This will forward all traffic otherwise not routed to the target group. The template creates two target groups. The user can customize the target groups’ properties as per their specific needs The HTTPS listener includes the certificate generated for our domain name. The user should change the certificate ARN to their own certificate ARN ID. Important Note: The target type can either be an instance (EC2) or an IP."

    CloudFormation Template (CFT)

AWS CloudFormation templates are JSON or YAML-formatted text files that simplify provisioning and management on AWS. The templates describe the service or application architecture you want to deploy, and AWS CloudFormation uses those templates to provision and configure the required services (such as Amazon EC2 instances or Amazon RDS DB instances). The deployed application and associated resources are called a "stack."
