Overview
The Apache Tomcat is a Java application server, and it is an open source implementation of the Java Servlet, JavaServer Pages, Java Expression Language and Java WebSocket technologies. Apache Tomcat software powers numerous large-scale, mission-critical web applications across a diverse range of industries and organizations. Multiple versions of Tomcat are actively in use right now. Kurian supports versions 9 and 10 with Java 8 as the runtime JVM. The tomcat service is configured to be managed using systemd on Linux platforms where systemd support is available. Users of Tomcat 10 onwards should be aware that, as a result of the move from Java EE to Jakarta EE as part of the transfer of Java EE to the Eclipse Foundation, the primary package for all implemented APIs has changed from javax.* to jakarta.*. This will almost certainly require code changes to enable applications to migrate from Tomcat 9 and earlier to Tomcat 10 and later. Kurian has released pre-configured software applications such as Wordpress, Jenkins, databases, LAMP stack, Ansible, DevOps tools, and monitoring applications that are widely used by system administrators and DevOps engineers. For selected Linux distributions hardened images based on CIS benchmark are also available. The Kurian AMIs are built following official installation steps so you do not need to learn any custom procedures if additional configurations need to be done.
