IBM API Connect for GraphQL as a Service is a GraphQL server with a scalable architecture that enables developers to build their APIs using a declarative approach. APIs run in an in-memory Golang-based GraphQL engine deployed into Kubernetes, and are highly responsive to application needs.

This declarative approach allows developers to build GraphQL APIs and federated graphs (sometimes called supergraphs) by composing GraphQL building blocks to create the GraphQL schema. Strong introspection capabilities mean that a GraphQL model for enterprise data can be constructed and composed with only a few lines of code.

Because you build your APIs declaratively, IBM API Connect for GraphQL as a Service understands the API and can make optimization decisions at runtime, delivering low latency and high throughput while imposing a minimum burden on the backends. IBM API Connect for GraphQL as a Service is delivered as a fully managed service on AWS to get the power, security and flexibility of the AWS Cloud.

    Highlights

    • Limited time offer: Get 50% off IBM API Connect for GraphQL subscription. Purchase the SaaS Plan subscription now through through 31 December 2024 and receive a 50% discount. Renewals are excluded from promotions.
    • Unparalleled flexibility to retrieve data wherever it resides. Connect data from any backend data source: SQL, NoSQL, REST, SOAP/XML, GraphQL etc. Declarative, consistent approach reduces backend complexity. IBM API Connect Essentials as a Service's declarative approach to GraphQL results in smaller and more intuitive code, better runtime performance, and faster time to value.
    • Automatic performance optimizations. Because the API is defined declaratively, IBM API Connect Essentials as a Service's runtime engine can parse the backend calls and create an optimal execution plan that includes caching, memorization, parallelization's, and combining multiple calls into one (N+1 problem). Furthermore, the runtime is a carefully designed thread-safe implementation in Golang, resulting in only a few milliseconds overhead.

Trust the IBM API Connect product for all your API needs in the cloud

What do you like best about the product?
Its a one stop shop that allows us to create, manage and secure our application API's in the on-prem cloud or to other vendors like GCP, AWS. I found the neat little virtual machine appliance easy to deploy on our on-prem infrastructure and quick to get up and running. From there as part of the Websphere line the gui was clean and easy to navigate.
What do you dislike about the product?
As yet and still part of PoC / sandpit setup no negative points to raise.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With cyber security a big thing the API Connect is a secure platform to work on and manage the project API's. It also helps close the gap with Redhat OpenShift as the API can be deployed within the native container. The fact that is covers the full lifecycle also increased ease of management, maintenance and deployments of the API's.
