The Designated Engineer Service Plus is one of F5 Consulting Services designed to provide an identified resource, the “Designated Engineer”, to help implement, maintain, and optimize your F5 configurations to perform to your specifications and in accordance with F5's recommended practices.

The Designated Engineer will work alongside you to plan activities from some of the activities listed below.

Service Scope

The service contains no specific activities unless the activities have been scoped or agreed to within the agreement. In the absence of specific activities, the Designated Engineer will be ready to perform generic tasks among the following:

**Design and Planning Assistance ** Leverage the Designated Engineer to discuss potential projects to determine the optimum solution or architecture that meets your business and technical goals. The Designated Engineer can aid you in planning the deployment.

**F5 Architecture Knowledge Transfer ** The Designated Engineer provides knowledge transfer about F5 products continuously to your team to aid in educating them about optimum application delivery that provides reliability and security for the application users.

Assistance with Requirements Creation Collaboration with you to draft the architecture requirements in the form of a design document for the specific project(s).

Future State Readiness Act as an advisor to assess current state of architecture and how best to achieve desired future state architecture. The Designated Engineer will help you choose the right application security and deployment tools to maintain application integrity.

Configuration Migration Planning The Designated Engineer may aid you in evaluating the current device configuration to determine potential issues that may occur while attempting to migrate an F5 configuration from current F5 Devices to new F5 Devices. The review will highlight dependencies, caveats and resources required to perform the migration activities.

Assistance with Implementations The Designated Engineer may assist with simple implementation for an F5 related project.

Change Requests Assistance Review change request to add new BIG-IP LTM virtual server(s), new BIG-IP DNS Wide IP configuration, new WAF policy or to add new BIG-IP AFM rule(s). Your operations team may ask the Designated Engineer to verify the configuration or configuration steps detailed in the Change Request prior to you placing the configuration into production.

Operations Assistance The Designated Engineer may provide general operational assistance (adding, modifying, or removing TMOS configurations) with your BIG-IP platforms and software modules).

Non-business hour Maintenance Window Assistance If you need assistance during maintenance windows, the Designated Engineer Service Plus can provide assistance during three (3) non-business hours maintenance windows of up to eight (8) hours per maintenance window to perform activities requested by you.

TMOS Software Upgrade Assistance The Designated Engineer Service Plus offering includes pre-emptive software upgrade assessments for planned TMOS upgrade and aids the operational staff in performing F5 software upgrades.

Design Documentation Review and Maintenance The Designated Engineer may maintain the F5-created high-level design and low-level design documentation.

Configuration and Architecture Assessment Perform configuration assessments to compare the design documentation with the running configuration.

F5 Support Case Assistance The Designated Engineer may use knowledge of your environment and the F5 configurations to improve the efficacy of collecting relevant information required to document F5 Support cases opened by you and to improve time-to-resolution.

Security Policy Configuration Review The Designated Engineer may review the F5 module security policies and rules of WAF, ASM or APM while working with you to ensure the current baseline is consistent with F5 and industry recommended practices.
