Best place to manage your software development!
What do you like best about the product?
It is mainly made for DevOps.I can easily manage my tasks, make different boards for different features, and track them separately,CI-CD pipeline gitlab has everything. The pricing of this product is also perfect.
What do you dislike about the product?
Beginners can get overwhelmed by seeing so many things on screen, there should be a proper guide to make them familiar with it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
GitLab is a one-stop solution for us it handles pretty much about our software development currently we are using GitLab along with GitHub but we have started to shift evetything from github to GitLab
An Amazing Collaborative Code Development Tool To Our Toolset
What do you like best about the product?
Within the free tier, there is a lot of storage capacity and has user-friendly UI. It allows collaboration while boosting productivity and cutting business costs. If any errors, bringing the team together for one project is really helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Analytics should be on dashboards. More thorough documentation for several features would be beneficial like the documentation of CI features need some improvement. SLA tracking requires more precise features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me in automating the build with no versioning issues. Planning tools including issues, task lists, project assignees, and time tracking available to help us to manage projects more quickly and effectively. It provides more secured branches and merges request approvals, merges request drafts, and push request rules.
The best open source code repository platform
What do you like best about the product?
GitLab is a very lite repository management tool that doesn't require a high-spec system, and it also contains DevOps workflows and CI/CD tools built-in without any extra manual integration
What do you dislike about the product?
If any experienced ones use GitLab, some terminologies are different compared to GitHub and Bitbucket, which might make them seem like an alien language. As it is free and open-source, there are many bugs that makes the user experience sloppy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
GitLab helps with providing code repository services and collaboration with team members. As it is an open-source platform, we have an excellent open-source community that helps us in critical times.
The Pros and Cons of Using GitLab for Software Development
What do you like best about the product?
GitLab allows developers to host, manage, and track changes to their code repositories. It includes features such as branch management, code review, and merge conflict resolution to help teams work efficiently on projects
What do you dislike about the product?
GitLab has a relatively robust set of built-in features and tools, but it may not have as many third-party integrations as other platforms. This can limit the flexibility and customization options available to users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
GitLab includes collaboration features such as team chat, video conferencing, and the ability to add external users to projects. These features make it easier for our teams to communicate and work together, regardless of location.
Powerful but complex
What do you like best about the product?
Good issue management and tracking, and it has a powerful set of features.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a fair bit more complicated than other devops suites which I've used. This has meant a much longer learning curve
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allows our team to raise bugs and other problems we encounter efficiently and have them correctly routed and resolved quickly.
Gitlab is best version control
What do you like best about the product?
Gitlab offers good diff showcasing and Ui is also very user friendly .
What do you dislike about the product?
Gitlab merge diff can be simplified by hiding two dot and three dot comparisons from users. Also gitlab can be made a little bit faster.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gitlab is used for all the code check ins and reviewing PRs and and version control of the code.
Open source solution to hosting code
What do you like best about the product?
GitLab is not only open source, it's free to use for open source projects. It seems more secure than its counterpart GitHub, despite being owned by themselves and having a seemingly smaller footprint.
What do you dislike about the product?
While GitLab is an enterprise product, there are many bugs in the software making the experience quite glitchy. Additionally, the code review workflow is not very well thought out nor polished. I find myself checking out code locally to conduct my own review process, rather than use the UI online.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
GitLab is a code hosting and reviewing platform, mixed with continuous integration and continuous deployment features for automated delivery of code. The software helps on the infrastructure side of development so that I can focus on the code itself.
A great repo for an air-gapped environment
What do you like best about the product?
I like being able to interact with a securely hosted repository to store and develop code with my team. The collaboration features are an industry standard and enable my team to work together well. I also love the ability to set up pipelines and CI/CD for my projects to have good linting, testing, and deployment automatically.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't really anything in particular that I don't like. I think that sometimes I wish that there were slightly more detailed docs for pipelines, but there are other examples online that helped me through any issues I have had.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The issue of being able to leverage the power of Git in a secure space. GitHub can't be hosted on-prem and operate completely separately from the outside world.
Simply the best git repository
What do you like best about the product?
I have used multiple git repositories, such as bitbucket and GitHub, but GitLab is by far the best one because it does not impose any commit size limit.
It also provides massive 15 GB of storage in the free plan, which no other git repository offers.
It also provides massive 15 GB of storage in the free plan, which no other git repository offers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes but not often, its server goes down and shows a bad gateway error: HTTP 500 error. And it should, by default, deselect the delete branch option while creating a merge request.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using GitLab, I can manage multiple projects with ease; it also is beneficial in real-time deployment, they best part is we can webhook the server for auto-deployment whenever the main branch is updated.
