Logging, metrics and alerting all in one package
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to aggregate metrics to pull out outliers across a large group of processes/instances.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's difficult to drill down from metrics to logs especially when looking at aggregate groups.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring of web services hosted in AWS, troubleshooting and log spelunking
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Lots of features, but this produces a more complex UI and steeper learning curve

Simple to Deploy Tools
What do you like best about the product?
I liked how easy it was to get my on-prem and AWS systems into the same dashboard and system.
What do you dislike about the product?
For me, I would have liked to seen pricing based on data points ingested, not just node count. This can cause things to get pricey pretty fast.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had zero metric insights into our AWS systems. And internally, things like Zabbix and Nagios require a lot of work for little change. We were able to correlate AWS data to onsite date. In a simple, visual dashboard.
Great Monitoring Tool
What do you like best about the product?
The integration with Amazon. We can easily see our AWS performance, set up alerts, and easily respond to them.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's really hard to think of anything we don't like. Rewriting all of our alerts was painful, but we'd get that switching to any other tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to quickly alert on and respond to issues with our infrastructure.
Intuitive, useful software at a reasonable price
What do you like best about the product?
I most like the fact that I have nearly complete control of what and how I monitor my infrastructure, but am not tasked with maintaining the monitoring infrastructure.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some parts of the featureset are robust yet not intuitive. I would ideally like some cycles to be spent polishing those up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The largest benefit we reap is having a powerful suite of monitoring tools without having to maintain additional servers or troubleshoot connectivity.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're thinking about using it, contact Datadog customer relations. They will set you up with a free trial, and answer any questions you might have!

Top Analytics monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to clearly see stats about company applications
What do you dislike about the product?
Some items are hard to find and take more clicks than expected to reach
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Get insights about apps that weren't know before. Quickly monitor network applications
Great SaaS monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
System stats, software stats, API endpoints, events, dashboards, alerts, mobile apps, all in one. Also basic APM and logging. Cloud integration plus agents, and extensible checks. Beats using something like nagios hollow.
What do you dislike about the product?
Expensive at scale, very little discounting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring of systems and services for production SaaS applications. It helps us discover issues both before and after they happen, and we use the dashboards both for system status and for business level dashboarding.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Monitoring's complicated. If you just take the defaults on graphs and alerts you're not necessarily going to be seeing what you want to see - you have to understand the sampling and available analytics and stuff, it's simple to set up but can be complicated to get a visualization or alert that really gives you what you want. Support can help a lot, though.
Outstanding metrics, logs, and alert aggregator
What do you like best about the product?
Everything is easily and cost effectively aggregated into a single repository. Support staff is quite helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Version upgrades on all clients should be manageable from a central console. Instead, they rely on integration with Puppet and Chef. In my opinion, while using something like Puppet should certainly be an option, an enterprise product should include the ability to centrally manage endpoint agents.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Log aggregation and publishing to our application development teams, correlation between time stamps on logs and related device metrics.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Initial installation is super quick and easy.
You will likely hit a steep learning curve / wall when you start moving into more advanced tasks such as alerts based on multiple aggregated metrics, custom dashboards, and log consolidation. The support team is very helpful when you get to this point.
You may want to also ramp up on your skills with Puppet and/or Chef as this is needed for automating the client upgrades.
