cuda cannot be installed
For the last few days, I have been trying to install the nvidia grid driver and cuda on a g4dn instance.
Finding this, I was thrilled since It seems like it should have all the components I need in the feature as well. However, after initiating an instance using this ami, even compilers (nvc, nvc++) are not installed. I tried to at least install cuda myself using this guide: https://docs.nvidia.com/cuda/cuda-installation-guide-linux/index.html#ubuntu-installation-common
but apt fails to install cuda with no useful error messages, just saying there might be some conflicts that it can not resolve.
I think these AMI should have at least documentation about what is installed and how, especially with nvidia drivers, where standalone installers and package manager installers are not compatible.
After all just garbage.
Thank you for your feedback. There was an internal mishap in the publishing of this image that caused the issues you report. We have corrected the issue, and you should be good to go. All of the needed drivers, including the CUDA driver are included in the image, so you should have everything you need to start using the HPC SDK in the image after launching it.
Thank you for this information. I actually subscribed to this AMI, but because I only just signed up for AWS, they wouldn't give me a limit increase to even attempt to use the AMI. So, I ended the subscription, and am looking at other cloud providers. However, I have experienced something very similar to what you described when I have tried to use a cloud provider available through work, and try to install nvidia hpc-sdk.
