Decent Product, Needs Work
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate how Cisco provides a good amount of pre-defined lists that they are constantly maintaining for the product. It helps reduce our overall cost in managing a filtering solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
The reporting leaves some to be desired. When searching out suspicious activity on the network, reviewing blocked sites or allowed sites can quickly be overwhelming. If we could filter out a list of particular URL's, it would make it far more powerful and capable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's solving our need to reduce the potential for our users to reach malicious sites.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Cisco Umbrella is a baseline product that provides DNS filtering backed by the threat intel that is obtained by Cisco Talos and others. It's great for protecting your environment against malicious domains and has a low rate of false positives. If you are just looking for the functionality and are not as heavy into the reporting side of it, it should meet your needs at a decent price point for the features. If you need something with more customization in reporting, you'll want to look elsewhere.

What do you like best about the product?
Wenn ich eine Seite oder eine infizierte Datei öffne, erkennt Open DNS Umbrella den Alarm einer böswilligen Infrastruktur, die über diese Datei in das System eindringen möchte, und warnt, dass das Öffnen der Datei oder des Webs das System beschädigen wird, da ich es nicht öffne aber ich mag es, wie es funktioniert, weil es Malware nicht erlaubt einzudringen, und wenn es eintritt, weil ich die Warnung ignoriert habe, die mich dazu veranlasst hat.

Mir gefällt das Erscheinungsbild der Plattform nicht zu langweilig und ohne jegliche Kreativität sieht alles so aus und erregt überhaupt keine Aufmerksamkeit, ich nutze die Plattform gut, aber am Anfang habe ich es nicht gerne für dasselbe gearbeitet, was so einfach ist und ich habe es nicht gesehen Nichts attraktives und ich habe ein Faible dafür, es so einfach zu sehen, aber von außen hätte ich mehr Farbe oder etwas, das mich motivieren würde, da mir die einfachen Dinge nicht gefallen.

Mit OpenDNS Umbrella konnten Probleme mit Datenlecks und Überprüfungen unangemessener Websites durch einige Benutzer behoben werden. Aufgrund seiner Überwachung und Sicherheit haben wir auch verhindert, dass die Eingabe verschiedener Arten von Angriffen irreführende Werbung verursacht, die einige Mitarbeiter im Wesentlichen unwissentlich auswählen hat uns der Bereich Sicherheit und Navigationsschutz geholfen.

Open the DNS Umbrella ist mit Sicherheit für Unternehmen mit Funktionen, die ständiges Surfen im Internet und Datenaustausch erfordern, Kontroll- und Sicherheitsfunktionen, die sich auf die Kontrolle der Navigation konzentrieren, sehr nützlich für diese Art von Unternehmen.

solid security features and cisco keeps adding more capabilities

no mobile application, logs only 30 days unless adding cloud storage

cyber security needs, stopping malware, ransomeware, cnc, cryptomining, and URL filtering

make sure to connect umbrella to your AD for best visibility, deploy remote clients on any internal devices that will be used off prem
Umbrella protects against major concerns
What do you like best about the product?
Umbrella is really low maintenance. Once you setup intial configuration and policies it is intuitive enough to do the rest. The dashboard allows for viewing the threats it has protected against and updates against a common database of bad URLs and malicious links that are updated in real time. It couldn't be easier to view and modify your threat protection with Cisco umbrella. The users can also submit their own request to the admin for review of a site needs to be unblocked.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it can be hit or miss with certain categories like parked domains. It's not difficult though to go in and manage the policy to add the exception or report an incorrect block to Cisco. The most part the definitions are accurate. We've had users mistype a URL and Cisco is there to protect us against unintentional attacks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Safe browsing online. Protecting against various forms of online threats. It allows us to focus on other work than removing files and dealing with potential credential compromise.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want easy online threat protection at the application level that is simple to implement but gives you flexible administrative capability and powerful protection I recommend umbrella
A cost effective Cloud protection for businesses
What do you like best about the product?
Simple to deploy, Administer and enforce.
What do you dislike about the product?
No granularity in determining what device behind the firewall is the culprit - this can be done only with getting an additional appliance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Content filtering, DNS protection, malware prevention. We have quickly deployed Umbrella by adding networks and pointing the router DNS to Umbrella. Quick, easy and effective. We use this as a multi-tiered protection in addition to end point protection for each device behind our firewall.
Cisco Umbrella as the first line of defense
What do you like best about the product?
Umbrella is quickly to deploy in any network infraestructure, it only requires to redirection the DNS and you can use it instantly. It is really easy to use and implement network rules.
What do you dislike about the product?
It requieres an aditional suscription tu use Cisco Investigate which is very useful when investigating an attack. It is a suscription you have to pay every year.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Secure my network, provide security to users without a VPN. Protect roaming users easy and instantly.
Easy Layer Of Security
What do you like best about the product?
Easy deployment and setup, straight forward AD intergration
What do you dislike about the product?
Licensing for investigate is way to expensive and should be included with base license.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Web filtering and reputation based filtering. I have noticed numerous blocks to malicious sites and newly created domains.

Make this a priority in your budget, it's one of the easiest layers of security you can implement
DNS guardian for your family and business
What do you like best about the product?
It was really easy to configure and let the rest do it for itself. I have 2 nephews and they keep using my laptop to watch internet videos and they don't really know about phishing or suspicious websites. This is the best way to relax and let them navigate freely when I'm not around.
What do you dislike about the product?
The amount of RAM it takes sometimes made me realize it wasn't a really good choice when my little nephews weren't visiting me abroad so I uninstalled it when they were back to the country. I'll use it again when they visit me
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As I said, my main concern was with my nephews looking at videos in my laptop when I wasn't around to warn them about malicious websites. With Open DNS I didn't have to worry all the time.

This is your #1 protector against any malware way before you're infected. A great way to keep your company safe from cyber attacks or phishing. A digital catcher in the rye.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Umbrella is that in just 5 minutes all the devices that access the company's internet, start to be safe. The speed with which you could start the Internet security, does not compare with any other solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing, this platform is amazing. Perhaps the point of improvement is the cost per user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Secure access to the internet of all employee devices. Inside and outside the company. Besides integrating it with the Active Directory, we can have a track of each employee's access to the Internet and apply business policies prohibiting access to pages that do not comply with that policy.

If your company's internet access is unprotected, in just 5 minutes you can protect it completely. This platform is extremely robust and allows to keep the assets of the company safe.
Cloud security platform
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing is the speed of deployment of this solution. Being a platform in the cloud, the only thing necessary is to address the DNS of the company to Cisco Umbrella. Then you can enable several policies depending on each business.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, there is nothing that disgusts me about this solution.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Cisco Umbrella we were able to implement a layer of protection to all devices that want to access the Internet very quickly. Preventing users from accessing infected websites.

Cisco Umbrella is great, it protects all the company's devices inside or outside of it.
