Easy to setup, simple pricing model
What do you like best about the product?
When we were looking for a solution,almost all pricing models in the market were complex and scary. Some asked for huge payments in front, some had too many variables. Instana has a very simple and predictable pricing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Setting up the agents and alerts are easy but a step by step guide for the interface would be great. We needed to spend some time to get used to it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are monitoring our apps, the infrastrusture and resources effectively. We are informed about the potential issues and incidents. It is good to be aware of the problems and bottleneck before your clients.

Could an APM be this user friendly?
What do you like best about the product?
Easy access to throughput, latencies, errors etc. Great visual representations via graphs and an excellent drill-down mechanism to debug erroneous calls and slow transactions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Analyse calls feature could be made more user-friendly. Apart from this, everything else is just awesome. I have tried other APMs like new relic and app dynamics, but instana stands out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Instana is a great APM. It helps me track my services, evaluate their performance and work on making them better. It's easy to integrate with any production-ready application.
Super powerful monitoring tool
What do you like best about the product?
The dashboards are easy to understand and navigate.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit of a learning curve, and the amount of information can be overwhelming.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gives us the ability to monitor and observe our software applications. This benefits us in understanding what is working and what is not, and where there is room for improvement.
Powerfull yet easy to use, a "must have" tool for every SRE, Cloud Engineer or Sysadmin
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to deploy, automatic discovery, automatic correlation and context guide. Also the smart alerts and analytical capabilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of logging analytics (yet). lack of the ability to ingest metrics directly from OTEL sources.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps to find what things did change and how they are affecting our service levels. Quickly pinpoints root cause. Analytics help to optimize code and detect bottlenecks.
Instana is great at tracing issues and monitoring our stack
What do you like best about the product?
The ease with which I am able to trace issues through our stack. I find a new problem and can track the request as it goes through our services and locate the ultimate source. I also enjoy the ability to customize the traces.
What do you dislike about the product?
Using instana for frontend issues hasn't been quite as useful. Love it for backend stuff.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Insight and debugging. We know when we have issues and we know more quickly how to resolve them.

- Split based on request params is not there, and only available based on endpoints
- Not suitable for root cause analysis like which line of code is causing issues like in appD
- External services failures and response time could not be found properly

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Instana helps to keep a check on the API health, it's a clear graph shows the percentiles and error rates, it is the first thing we check if we encounter some error because it's very good for the high-level metric tracking and can tell you if everything is going the right way.

Instana is lightweight and provides continuous discovery and metric capture without human intervention.

I don't dislike anything in particular at the moment.

The task of discovering all the components and technology is what instant is solving and reducing manual human intervention is greatly benefiting in reducing the overhead cost of manual metric collection and analysis.
