I like that a lot of open source projects are used and that we do get a working selection of components that fit and work together.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the name changing and discontinuing of some of the tools we heavily used, e.g. storm. Also BigInsights was not ready when we started migration to 3.0.1 so we had to change a lot of our code so we can access our data via ODBC.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We first used Cloud Private for data (then called IOP) for our fraud detection system. Now we are using it to build a "Smart Data Lab" where we enable our data scientists to work with customer data.

Db2, at times, reverts back to inefficient methods when upgrades are applied. for the most part, this has been due to lack of testing by the vendor.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Db2 is the main transctional database for the enterprise, and currently use other IBM products to realize even better Analytics processing for marketing and clams processing. To that end, Db2 has saved our company in excess of a million dollars worth of CPU Chargeback per year.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
DB2 can be queired via XML streams as well as SQL. Based on the development path of your programmers, Db2 can be a great asset.
